Udaipur -Our Trip To A Mini Paradise In Rajasthan (Day 3 - Visit to Chittorgarh)

We had a superb stay in Udaipur and our Day 1 and Day 2 were quite eventful. For Day 3 we decided to explore a place near Udaipur - either Mount Abu,Kumbhalgarh or Chittorgarh.

We decided to visit Chittor since the Chittorgarh Fort is of great importance to the Mewar History.

Our trips are almost always incomplete without a Roadways adventure. Of course people will tell you that the buses are very uncomfortable, they aren't very safe and you can't find a seat - but then that's what completes our trip. Sometimes you do have a few nasty experiences, but sometimes you also meet new interesting people and listen to interesting stories. It depends upon whether or not are you willing to take the risk, and also on the place that you're visiting.

We took a bus to Chittorgarh from Udaipur Bus Terminal. A bus leaves from Udaipur to Chittor every few hours but it's advisable to leave early morning, specially if you have to return to Udaipur the same day. The bus DOES NOT STOP at any point before you reach Chittorgarh,so please make sure you're feeling well and have an empty bladder.
The bus can take anywhere from 2 hours to 3 hours to reach Chittorgarh and costs around 100 rupees. You can also take a cab to Chittorgarh.

After we got down at Chittor, we took a sharing auto to "Qila Road" which charged 10 rupees per person. From there you can find sharing autos which take you to Chittor Fort and stop at various landmarks so that you can explore the place and come back to your auto, and then move to the next place inside Chittor Fort.

We decided instead to take our own auto instead of a Sharing auto which took us from Qila road to Chittor Fort, showed us around and dropped us back to the Udaipur Bus Terminal for 200 rupees. He also acted as a guide - some of the information he told was true, while some was a little unbelievable.

Chittor Fort has a circumference of 13km and covers 700 hectares of area. The fort has seven gateways or Pols - Paida Pol,Bhairon Pol,Hanuman Pol,Ganesh Pol,Jorla Pol,Laxman Pol and Ram Pol.

The fort has several important Palace complexes, temples and water bodies.
